QuestDB + Hacktoberfest 2025: Build Something That Lasts
For some, October means cooler nights and early sunsets. For others, it means longer days and warmer skies. Wherever you are, it is the month when the open source community comes together to celebrate Hacktoberfest.
At QuestDB we are excited to welcome new and returning contributors to our projects and to celebrate another year of collaboration.

What is Hacktoberfest?
Hacktoberfest is an annual celebration of open source organized by DigitalOcean. From October 1 through October 31, anyone can take part by opening pull requests and helping projects grow. It is a great chance to sharpen your skills and connect with the global developer community.
Why contribute to QuestDB?
QuestDB is an open source time-series database focused on performance and simplicity. The core engine is built in Java, C++, and Rust. Alongside it we maintain a web console written in TypeScript and React, and a full set of documentation. All of these are open for contributions, and Hacktoberfest is the perfect time to get involved.
We value quality over quantity. Small typo fixes are always appreciated, but for
Hacktoberfest we encourage contributors to look for issues that have a real
impact. You will find open issues with the hacktoberfest
label in our GitHub
repos. If you are unsure where to begin, drop a message in the #contributors
channel of our Slack and we will point you in the
right direction. AI-generated contributions are discouraged because we want your
ideas and your work.
Rewards
Contributing to open source is rewarding in itself, but we like to add a little extra. Anyone who successfully contributes to a QuestDB project during Hacktoberfest will receive one of our exclusive t-shirts as a thank you. And that's on top of the Hacktoberfest Rewards.
